The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Broward County in southeastern Florida...
southeastern Palm Beach County in southeastern Florida...

* until 645 PM EDT

* at 445 PM EDT... the public reported minor Road flooding across
sunrise and Plantation. Up to two inches of rain have already
fallen in the past hour and additional heavy rainfall across the
advisory area will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Fort Lauderdale... Hollywood... Coral Springs... Pompano Beach and
Davie.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

and 45 to 55 mph winds for eastern Broward and southeastern Palm
Beach counties until 500 PM EDT...

* at 414 PM EDT... Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm
over Coconut Creek... or near Margate... moving east at 5 mph.

* The primary impacts will be frequent to excessive lightning and
gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph. Lightning is the number one weather
related killer in Florida. Trees and open shelters offer no
protection. These winds can down small tree limbs and branches...
and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe
building until the storm passes.

* Locations impacted include...
Fort Lauderdale... Hollywood... Coral Springs... Pompano Beach...
Davie... Plantation... sunrise... Boca Raton... Deerfield Beach...
Tamarac... Margate... Lighthouse Point... Lauderdale-by-the-Sea...
