Numerous snow showers...will continue to impact the Rio Grande Valley...much of the Central Mountain chain and adjacent Highlands...as well as the Santa Fe...Las Vegas and Raton areas tonight. Before 11 PM...moderate to heavy snow will persist in the Santa Fe and East Mountain areas including Moriarty...Sedillo Hill... Sandia Park and Clines Corners...where an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible this evening. Moderate to heavy snow will also spread into the Pecos and Cowles areas. Visibilities will be reduced to one mile or less in snow...and secondary roads over the higher terrain may be snow covered and slick. A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect from midnight tonight to 6 PM MDT Monday.
* Snow accumulations... expect 1 to 3 inches... with the higher amounts along the foothills and lower amounts in the valley.
* Timing... snowfall will increase tonight... especially late evening into Monday morning. Snowfall will decrease in intensity Monday afternoon.
* Winds... strong East Canyon winds of 15 to 25 mph will be found along the Central Mountain gaps leading into the Rio Grande Valley... otherwise widespread significant winds are not expected at this time. Strongest winds will be Monday morning.
* Snow levels... a mixture of rain and snow will be found early this evening but all snow by late evening as temperatures drop.
* Local impacts... snow is expected to impact travel due to snow packed roadways and reduced visibilities.
